The Waterside Market
35 x 64 x 3"
Watercolor on panel on paper
Sealed, Waxed Surface
This painting came together quickly and painlessly mostly in one evening. The next day I found some more shapes needed to be added, and they too dropped onto the paper with just a flick of the wrist.
It took on a landscape quality for me during it's creation. I see several women, a baby... I see a waterside market with SO much going on and so many things for sale or trade.
I find the scene relaxing and active.
Some of the paints here are store boughten, some are home made. It's got a nice amount of glimmering micah, some lovely oxides, etc etc.
The frame is a beastly amount of knotty cedar finished smoothly. I took some rough, eased edge decking boards and ran them through my table saw to square them up. The rest was just glue and sawdust. :)
This painting was the centerpiece of my (IT’S) THIS WAY TO THAT WAY exhibition August 2019. At Bainbridge Arts and Crafts on Bainbridge Island WA.
Call me if you want to talk or hear more about this painting. I just love it and I would be happy to share my thoughts with you.
