Fort Wonder's Magic Mountain Reproduction - Large Framed

I'll put a 24 x 40" mounted photo of this vectored image with a lustre coating into a delicious cedar frame like the one in the photos. In fact the whole thing will look just like that! I will only be making a limited quantity of these per year. So grab one of these if you love it!

The Story...

Fort Wonder’s Magic Mountain

Back in May of 2015 my parents asked me to paint a picture of our area done in my colorful, fun style to hang in their house uptown. I was happy to oblige. More than a decade of living in beautiful Port Townsend had filled my mind with a reservoir of images which flowed easily and quickly onto the paper… A tall ship and sailor at port, Victorian houses and downtown buildings, the paper mill, a freighter to Seattle, Mt. Rainier, a flock of airplanes and birds, an orca, salmon returning etc etc…

To the left, a mountain covered in colorful buildings, a cannon, a castle, vistas and bunkers - This is Fort Worden! Renamed now in my mind to Fort Wonder, this mountain becomes a wellspring of artistic energy exploding upward and outward and raining down perpetually on the people of Port Townsend, The Olympic Peninsula and beyond.

The Vision struck me. This is the future and its not far away!

Just a month after I hung the painting up on my parent's wall, I was approached to be on the board of a new art school being birthed by Max Grover, Jeannie McMacken and a few others. I jumped at the opportunity to diversify and strengthen Port Townsend's arts community which had drawn me here back in 2002. Within a few months of meetings, Port Townsend School of the Arts had secured a space for our new school at Fort Worden. It dawned on me, the vision I had painted just months before was materializing before my eyes!

Artillery Hill is becoming a Hill of Art. Fort Worden is becoming Fort Wonder. This ancestral, Native land, turned military fort, turned state park is continually evolving into a place where humans from all walks of life can come together harmoniously and express themselves.
